Joseph Muchai

Software Engineer

Hello, I'm Joseph.

A frontend-focused Full-Stack Developer who enjoys turning ideas and real-world problems into thoughtful, user-centric digital experiences.

I build modern web and mobile applications with React, Next.js, TypeScript, and React Native, backed by technologies like Node.js, Express, Golang, and LangChain. I’m particularly interested in creating clean, intuitive interfaces while exploring AI-powered features, performance, and the systems that make products reliable behind the scenes.

Beyond building software, I enjoy experimenting with new technologies, working on side projects, and sharing what I learn through technical and opinion-driven writing.

When I’m not fighting my debugger 😁, you’ll probably find me buried in a book, working out, playing video games, or binge-watching anime.

What I've Built

HuntMaster

Drawing from my own job search struggles, I built a smart browser extension that lets you capture job postings instantly from LinkedIn and other platforms, coupled with AI-powered skill extraction from job descriptions. Track every application through clear statuses, view real-time progress statistics on a clean dashboard, and manage everything through an intuitive side panel.

SwipeAway

As someone who tends to accumulate far too many photos on my phone, I wanted a more fun and intuitive way to clean up my gallery. So, I built SwipeAway, a mobile app that turns the tedious task of sorting through photos into a simple swipe-based experience. Swipe left to trash, swipe right to keep, and quickly work through your gallery one photo at a time.

Me-Movies

Inspired by countless hours spent manually tracking movies and recommendations from friends, I developed Me-Movies web and mobile to create the movie discovery experience I always wanted. As an avid film enthusiast, I wanted to combine personalized curation with efficient discovery. You can curate your own cinematic universe, keeping track of your favorite films, creating watchlists for future viewing and marking movies as watched to track your viewing history. You can also search for new movies, filter films by genre and check out the trailers.

KnowTech

As a tech enthusiast, I often find it overwhelming to keep up with the latest developments across multiple platforms. So, I engineered a centralized tech news platform with AI-powered features, including real-time article curation, on-demand summaries, customizable feeds and a smart bookmarking system.

No-Pay-Play

As a passionate gamer on a budget, I often search for quality free-to-play games but get lost in endless ads and unreliable sources. This frustration led me to create No-Pay-Play. No-Pay-Play is a web app offering a curated collection of free-to-play games with a focus on helping gamers find engaging and budget-friendly options.

BookVerse

As an avid reader and developer, I wanted a smarter way to track my reading journey and discover new books. So, I built BookVerse, a reading companion web app featuring AI-powered book insights, customizable reading lists, and intuitive book tracking to enhance user engagement and accessibility.
